Give Gum Disease the Boot with the LANAP® Protocol

October is National Dental Hygiene Awareness Month, the same month kids roam door to door collecting excessive amounts of candy, perhaps proving to be a mere coincidence.  For many people, this means emphasizing more attention and vigilance towards maintaining proper brushing and flossing habits.

If you are among the millions currently suffering from problems associated with gum disease, simple brushing and flossing alone may not be sufficient. Dr. Thomas K. McCawley and Dr. Mark N. McCawley practice laser dentistry in Fort Lauderdale, FL, providing numerous patients  gum disease treatment with the assistance of the LANAP® Protocol, a laser-assisted attachment procedure that helps counteract periodontal disease through a process or regeneration, as opposed to traditional, more invasive methods of treatment.

How LANAP® Works

If it has been determined that you are an ideal candidate for the LANAP® Protocol, Dr. McCawley will first administer a local anesthetic to ensure you experience minimal discomfort. He will then insert a small laser probe between your teeth and gum tissue, effectively eliminating the harmful bacteria that may lead to periodontal disease. Upon elimination of the bacteria, reattachment of the gums can commence to the tooth roots, protecting the bone underneath and promoting regeneration.

Are You an Ideal Candidate for LANAP®

While Dr. McCawley will make the final determination for your candidacy of the LANAP® Protocol, you may be an ideal candidate under these conditions:

·         Know that you have pockets that are 5mm deep or deeper
·         Have been told you may require gum surgery
·         Suffer from bleeding or painful gums or bad breath
·         High risk candidate for certain health issues, such as diabetes or heart problems and have not acquired dental care for long periods of time

Remember, only a professional who has reviewed your specific case, can determine if the LANAP® Protocol can benefit you. If you believe you may be a strong candidate and want to schedule a consultation with Dr. McCawley, please call (954) 703-6707.
