The 2017 World Workshop on Periodontology and Implantology issued new classifications of peri-implant disease:
- Peri-Implant Health.
- Peri-Implant Mucositis
Peri-implant health is characterized by the absence of erythema, bleeding on probing, swelling, and suppuration. In health, there are no visual differences between peri-implant tissues and periodontal tissues. However, the probing depths may be greater at the implant site versus tooth sites, as attachments to teeth and implants are different.
